Monastery Destination Wedding in Porto

Nathan and Peder

Couple from Seattle

Location: Porto,  Portugal

Venue: Pousada de Amares

Photographer: Branco Prata

A stylish, modern couple from Seattle, Nathan and Peder desired a historical venue with architectural relevance, as one of the grooms is an architect. The choice of venue? Pousada de Amares, a secluded twelfth-century monastery near Porto, Portugal, converted into a boutique hotel.

We held a beautiful service amongst the orange trees, with the ceremony area facing a breathtaking valley. For the reception, we decorated a white and navy tabletop according to the couple’s modern aesthetic taste within the monastery courtyard. Guests dined in the candlelit courtyard and took in the entertainment – flamenco singers and dancers. The afterparty took place indoors with a DJ and dancing.

“A MONASTERY PARADISE.”

“So much more than we could ever have envisioned.”
